The clients’ requirement was a customized retrofitting solution for a cutting machine and we handled the project from end to end. Shown here is the PCB that was designed for the motor drive that went into the application. The drive is for a 120V/ 10A Bipolar Stepper Motor, with various features like Over Voltage, Current detection and shutdown, complete bipolar operation under different modes etc. The PCB had both low voltage sensitive digital circuitry and high power, high speed switching sections also, which required careful planning and layout to isolate the digital sections from the power sections. The digital sections also needed protection from conducted EMI noise and the same was included in the PCB design.
